A study conducted between 2010 and 2012 by the site Candy USA, showed that 9 out of 10 Americans regularly buy chocolate. 10% of American adults eat this delicious treat on a daily basis, with a strong preference swinging towards milk chocolate. In fact, only 15% of people 18-44 years old and 29% of people over 45 pick dark chocolate. Among hardcore chocolate lovers, women make up 57% of consumers. According to the London-based market research firm Euromonitor, the United States ranks 15th among countries when it comes to chocolate consumption. The average American eats 12.8 lbs. of chocolate every year.
