Belgian Pralines

The Sunshine State!

Even if Florida shares its borders with Alabama and Georgia, it’s territory is mostly bordered by the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Expect to find hundreds of kilometers of beaches as far as the eye can see, turquoise water, and most importantly… sun! This sums the state up quite well, as simple as it may seem.

There are bays and lagoons that stretch over more than 1900 km, 30,000 lakes and 700 sources of water that allow those who adore water sports to feed their passion when they visit : sailing, canoeing, kayaking, catamarans and surfing. There are many bicycle paths and hike trails for both horseback riding and walking that allow a handful of tourists to discover the incredible landscapes Florida has to offer.

This state possesses numerous natural reserves as well as three national parks ; the most popular one being Everglades National Park. Today, it is inscribed to UNESCO world heritage as the park makes up more than 6,000 km² of refuge for rare and protected species : pink flamingos, manatees, pelicans and most certainly crocodiles, alligators, the kings of the saltmarsh!

Even though tourism is the primary source of income for this state, Florida is also known for its advanced medical and biotechnological industries. The aerospace system greatly developed with the installation of NASA in the 1960s, Walt Disney World Resorts and Universal Orlando Studios are also known as the most recognized and most visited amusement parks in the United States. The movie industry has definitely evolved, it is now the third biggest centre of production in the United States. Florida is also known for its rich agricultural grounds, since it makes up for 75% of the American orange and cane sugar industry, particularly in the region of Orlando.

Alligator or chocolate?

The alligator, known as the state’s icon, is also a common dish found in Florida! Fried, grilled, boiled, in sausages, filets or even in the form of nuggets - its taste, which resembles chicken one way or another, is sure to please your taste buds!
Seafood also plays an integral role in the culinary landscape of Florida thanks to its kilometers and kilometres of coastal views. Let’s not forget that Florida also produces two thirds of the citrus fruits in the United States. Key Lime Pie is the state’s traditional dessert, which is made out of limes, a bit of Florida lemon and then covered with a layer of meringue. Fudge, which is a little treat made from chocolate, condensed sweetened milk and banana, is equally appreciated. Now it’s time to try our banana pralines made by our chocolate experts that will surely cover all those bases! Discover the “World of Chocolate Museum and Cafe” in Orlando, a chocolate museum of course, to try different kinds of chocolates, to find out what kind of chocolate you like best and to learn more about the history and production of chocolate! And we get it, Florida is a bit far from you, but you can nonetheless attend demonstrations and workshops by Planete Chocolat!

Do my chocolates risk melting during the trip?
