New Mexico, a historic territory of chocolate

If cocoa beans are the cultural focus points at hand, and since they were discovered in Central America, chocolate then, has also conquered New Mexico’s territories. Patricia Crown, who is a professor and researcher at the University of Albuquerque, has in fact proved this link by updating cylindrical containers that contain traces of theobromine, not too far from the city of Pueblo Bonito (500 km north of the U.S and Mexico border).
This evidence proved that chocolate existed back in the 11th and 12th centuries, this dating was obtained thanks to close observation of the decoration inside the containers. There must have been rituals associated with the consumption of cocoa beans, in a similar fashion as to those supposed thousand-year-old exchange networks that existed for food, which all happened in a territory that wasn’t called New Mexico just yet!
